  • Trawlers in Blyth

Not done a lot of fishing in the last year but took the bairn down to Blyth Harbour last night for a couple of hours... Not even a single bite between us but we saw plenty of fish - bunch of Scottish trawlers moored up and dumping their by-catch over the sides, we saw HUNDREDS of dead fish floating past :-( Codling, Haddock, Whiting and plenty of others that were hard to make out in the dark. Makes me sick seeing that many undersize fish floating dead down the river.

totally agree mate,an angler will practise catch and release if he dont want the fish and judges it to be undersized.but a trawler kills all and dumps imature fish over the side ,not a bit wonder the fish stocks are in the state they are.makes me sick and to think the goverment does nothing about this or the dwindling fish stocks.
