  • South Shields to Souter lighthouse.

No fishing today lads as my son Tom 15 yrs is not keen, however he likes riding his mountain bike so we had a look along from the Walkway to Souter lighthouse on our bikes.
First check on Walkway fishing was very poor by dozen anglers, we then went to the Groin and spoke to one angler who again was struggling. Along to SSP and ride to the end. Few Mackeral still coming up and coalies getting caught. Water was crystal clear.
Rode along coastal path to Frenchmans bay then on past Marsden and then to Souter. Really enjoyable checking out the spots in lovely weather.
Spotted a seal not far from the Salmon nets and one of the fisherman in his coble was very unhappy. He had a way of moving it on.
Was amazed how many nets were out for the Salmon along the sea front from the pier.
Only about 3 mile by road but loads more when u are in and out of all the cliffs.
One other thing I noticed was lots of flowers tied to rails etc--must be a popular suicide area. Would not know as never worked this area.
    Mick.
