Neoprene Waders

I\'m thinking about getting some Snowbee stocking foot neoprene waders. I\'m getting fed up of my Sundridge suit when I\'m fishing rocky marks. As warm as it is it really does restrict mobility (still keep it for fishing the piers though). The ones I\'m looking at are about £80. What are peoples thoughts on the neoprenes? are they warm enough in the wind and rain and how well made are the Snowbees.

I also fly fish and one of the guy\'s in Rods n\' Reels in Whitby was telling me about people fly fishing for bass at Sandsend. Wade out in very flat, calm conditions and have some great sport. Fancy giving it a bash some time.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I have a pair of \'Snowbee Prestige\' neoprene chest waders - mine have the spiked sole. They are really warm and comfortable to wear, have extra re-inforcing in all the appropriate places, and the spikes grip like limpets to slippy kelp covered rocks.
I wear mine with the top half of my Penn floatation suit - warm as toast

I got a pair of Snowbee neoprene chesties, the Christmas before last, and they are excellent, Mike.

Went fishing on the Boxing Day night to give them a try out.
Ended up standing waist deep in the North Sea - weather was freezing, sea was freezing - me? warm and dry - NO PROBLEM

Definately a good buy !!

The only thing I\'d change is, I\'ve been thinking about getting some studs fitted to the soles for a bit of extra grip - other than that, I\'ve got no complaints.

As Pat says, neoprene chesties teamed with a Floatation jacket - \"warm as toast\"

Mike, beware of the sweat! If you\'ve a team of porters to carry you on and off your mark then Neoprene is fine. Any amount of graft involved in getting there could / will have you sweating like a bullock. I\'ve tried a lot of different undergarms, Monkey suit, long johns, fishnet tights etc. and always have a problem with cold sweat. I still get on with my snowbees though. I know you mentioned 80 snots, but if I had the dosh I\'d shell out on something like the Scierra Gortex type stuff. Choose what you want to wear underneath according to the weather and you shouldn\'t sweat in them. how mind I\'ve never tried a pair, they\'re probably crap!

Ell, I\'ve never found the sweat issue to be that much of a problem with the neoprene waders, to be honest.

I normally wear a pair of \"tracksuit\" style trousers under them. They\'re not the fleecy kind, more of a lycra type (stirrup ubder foot) but are made from \"isotex\" - another supposedly \"breathable\" fabric.

I\'m not a great fan of Gore-Tex, Isotex, SkeeTex or other so called \"breathable\" materials. End result, if you do any physical activity when wearing them.....you still sweat and you still end up wet.
Over many years, I\'ve had various items of clothing, made from various \"Texes\" and referred to as \"breathable\"......THEY AIN\'T !

Tony you\'re only little though, you don\'t sweat as much as larger lads. Sweat v Size is exponential not fladdyflarential (couldn\'t think of ....) I appreciate your comments on the TEXES though. Saying that though posh girls love goretex, my missus gets Neoprene with a waxed cotton afterburn.

I know this is a bit off topic but I\'ve just managed to pour about half a litre strong drink right down the front of me shirt. And before you ask it is not neoprene, me shirt that is the drink could be Goretex for all I know! I can still breathe anyway.

Sorry about that Mike just got a bit side tracked like. I\"ve been using the neoprene chesties for a few years now and think they are the bizz mate. Used to use the normal one\"s and I think they are worthless. Just my humble opinion.

I suppose it depends. If you use a pair of waders every week, then Neoprene or Goretex ones are your thing. If you use them 3 or 4 times a year, then you\'d want the cheaper ones. Horses for courses and all that.

I\'m going to see if I can get them cheaper at the Go Fishing exhibition at the end of this month, but I doubt it. Might order some of the studded wading boots as well. I don\'t like the ideal of the wader and boot being attached. Once the boot is knackered thats it!
