Still cant get in touch with the northern federation. But I found this interesting snipet on another site. I really think we need to have our eyes fixed firmly on the ball. Kent and Essex could be the first of many to take this move.

One of the first areas of the country are now considering bag limits for anglers. "Following a request from Defra , to the Association of sea fisheries committees to assist with the creation bylaws for bag limits on anglers.".The Kent and Essex sea fisheries committee is one of the first in the country to consider this.

At the last statutory meeting of the Kent and Essex sea fisheries committee , following a request from Defra , to the Association of sea fisheries committees to assist with the creation bylaws for bag limits on anglers. A decision was made , that the KESFC will be having a technical panel meeting...

Ok Guys I've had response from the northern federation of sea anglers. I don't have permission to print the response here (I will ask) but I got the feeling they aren't as concerned as I am, and pointed out the benefits of the sea angling strategy rather than the potential impacts on the charter industry, our fishing clubs and our ancient right to fish unrestricted with rod and line.

I'm not sure how we are going to get an opposing voice into the next meeting in London scheduled for March this year. As some of you have stated your clubs are affiliated to the northern federation of sea anglers perhaps if you are concerned about the potential impacts of the strategy you could get your fishing club secretary to write to the federation expressing your concerns. I am aware that it is going to be difficult to get your voices into the next meeting, my good friend, local skipper Paul Kilpatrick has asked DEFRA if he may attend the next meeting but he has been refused an invite.

I guess its down to you and your clubs to express concern now, if DEFRA don't hear our concerns they will assume everyone is happy with the proposals of the sea anglers strategy and press on with implementing them - over to you !!!.

              no to licences

I AM AGAINST ALL THESE ISSUES i dont know too much about it all but if i have to buy a licence to fish and have a limit on what i catch i might aswell put my fishing gear in the loft.i dont think many anglers know about these issues especially those not in fishing clubs.could we not put out a petition to all local tackle shops and get them to get signatures on it .i am also willing to take a petition around my local town centre and make people aware of the issues that are being brought up.i know most people wouldnt care but if we all did it i bet we would get quite a few signatures .i know its close to there next meeting but im sure if we all feel this strongly about this we could get the petition to london in time
was that a bite (na mate i think it was wind)

Well Darren the state of fishing as it is, half the members of my club HAVE put their gear in the loft including myself. How will tackle shops manage when people are giving up in their droves?
Something serious needs to be done to manage our fisheries and bait beds correctly.
