  • Fished Johnson's Today...20.12.06

Fished Johnson's at Marsden today from 11am till around 2.15pm...landed 1 codling around 2lb and flounder about a pound-ish....the annoying thing is I lost two what felt like decent fish, and couldn't understand what I was getting snagged on! On closer inspection in the water, in front of me were, what can only be described as very small objects floating on the water. They were around 40yds out, and if you weren't looking for them, you wouldn't see them! They were obviously connected to a rope and I presume they were pots laid there?
Spoilt my day....because some muppet has cast pots that close in. I wouldn't mind if they were marked properly, I would have moved elsewhere - to be honest, I really thought they were a couple of sea birds in the water when I saw them, but when they didn't move after an hour or so, the penny dropped! I think they were also coloured black and white, but very very small!
Watch out any one fishing Johnson's just in case they are still there....
    What a muppet!

....thing is, I couldn't see them when the tide was right down - and fished without any problems - soon as the tide got well up - it all went pear shaped...

Parasite - I'll agree with that!
Don't think I would ever dare go that close in to rocks with a boat...
Not only will he take lobster's as small as prawns, he'll also have my two decent codlings, and anyone else's that were unfortunate enough to catch his rope......nothing but pure greed fuels these people!

take a spare reel loaded with 80lb braid

you'll be amazed what its capable of pulling in if you take your time

Still looking to buy a few spare pots by the way ;-)

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
