  • Travel/Telescopic rods

Looking for a decent Telescopic or three piece rod,i would prefer something thats an allrounder ie build quality, chuck a reasonable weight etc etc i know most are crap, just fancy something i can stick in my ruck sack whilst i\'am climbing about (re Scotland).I would also consider a three piece rod as well but theres not many about.

i Fancy one of the shimano exage spinning rods for travelling about alan, they are not to dear and have the option of two rod sizes for one purchase,my mate steve has used exage rods in norway and landed very large cod on them with no probs, they break down and fit in a tube about 2ft long.

had a bitt play with the fladen travel rods yesterday - they do a few, fly, spin, beach.

Seem pretty well built I have to say. all 5 piecers, not sure if I\'d want to give a 6oz lead some welly with a 5 piecer tho

My Neighbour bought a penn 3 piece beach rod last summer that seemed pretty good quality for 80 quid, had a go with it in scotland and it chucked a 5oz lead ok.

depends what sort of fishing you want to do. I bought a shakespeare excursion lasy year and love it so much I boiugh 2 more. its a 7foot rod, with a reversible butt section that makes it a spinning rod or a fly rod. As a fly rod the action is fantastic on small rivers, unbeleivably good for what it cost, as a spinning rod, it chucks a 15g lure ok, laneded many a pollack with it, both on the fly and spinning. the best bit is I only paid 20 quid each for em and they are a five piecer so perfect for the rucksack. the bad news is they stopped making them. rrp is/was 40quid and there may still be a few shops with one lurking. If you want one PM me and I\'ll tell you where I got mine, as I think they have one or 2 left.

      Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
