Paul, is that all marks on both banks or are there some which are not allowed.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

Surprised the boundaries aren't up our way....Most Opens are...He says pedantically.
"And I looked, and behold'a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was death, and hell followed with hi, and power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger, and with the beasts of the earth"

I am hearing all sorts of remarks about this open.

Someone came in the shop today and said he had been in touch with the organisers and asked: what if South Shields pier is closed? Answer: you can go beyond the gates and fish but it is at your own risk!

If that is completely true ( which i find hard to believ) then i would think the organisers have no public liabilty insurance.

Plenty of other rumours going around also, too many to mention.

Please, please if any of the organisers are watching get your act together and post some rules and boundaries otherwise i think the attendance will suffer.
I know most of the confusion has come about due to the fact the venue HQ has been changed, but lets be fair in no way have the organisers got in touch with local tackle shops, forums etc and made the fishing public aware of the changes.

Someone asked the question about wether or not it was another Shields Open, let me make it quite clear: The South Shields & District Sea Angling Cub are in no way connected to this Open Comp.

Just got this info off Carl

they can fish from lynmouth north beach as far up as
boghall rocks but not the rocks themselves down to
roker pier if open, cambois and tynemouth pier are out
of bounds, they can fish anywhere up the tyne or Blyth, Wear is out, as long
as they are not caught tresspassing, anyone caught
tresspassing or fishing banned marks will be
disqualified, i have a team of 20 going around all of
the boundaries on they day to keep an eye out.

Thanks to Paul and Alan for what they have put on tonight.

Sorry to seem so negative but alan you state "as long as they are NOT caught tresspassing" does that mean they can tresspass and still be allowed to weigh-in?

If that is correct then it seems a little odd to me!

Paul, they can climb round the pier gates if locked, and the organisers have public liability Insurance.
If anyone goes round the gates then the public liability will be deemed null and void and that goes for the tresspassing bit also.

To be perfectly blunt i dont think the organisers have given enough thought into this comp and its a great pity, Its scary to say the least.

Anyway, i sincerely hope things go ok and wish them every success,(fingers crossed).

Terry i think what he means is, all out of bound areas will be patroled and anyone fishing there will be out the comp.

I started this post to try and get some information, looks like i've opened a can of worms. What it does demonstrate, that many anglers don't even consider, is all the work and organisation that people do for the other opens, which run smoothly.....not that I'm saying this open won't be successful.....I'm just jealous, cos I can't fish it.
                              Wishing I was Fishing...............

ive spoke to carl today again and hes done a last minute change to the rules book sheilds pier can be fished if the gates are open if there locked then its a no go it cant be fished

hope this eventually clears things up on this thread and yes they take a lot of hard work orginising and time

anyone wanting tickets can register on the day from 8am at the new crown loads of tickets have already been sold so looks like its going to be a good turn out
