Got to agree with Terry about the whiting mind, I haven't had a one who's stomach wasn't full of worms in the last 2 winters (and that's between the Tyne and Sandsend)

As long as you cut off the stomach cavity when you fillet them they tend to be OK though (although you only end up with a thin strip of fish left)

Cheer's Rob, the reason I asked is I have never seen them in Whiting at all but quite a bit in Codling. Mind that said it is not often that I keep Whiting.

I must have missed something somewhere along the way Paul to get a reply like that. I thought Terry was just having a bit of a poke at us all, or is there a private joke going on. sorry if i have upset you

Willy i think the difference is, that the few worms you get in cod are in the flesh, easilly got rid of by removing with a knife, water with a bit of vinegar or just fry the bloody things. While in all the whitng i have scrounged at opens and there have been quite a few the worms and at times quite numerous have been in the livers (liver fluke) etc and are disposed of with filletting, not had any whiting with worms in the flesh

Alan, wasnt havin a poke at anyone, simply pointing out the fact there are worms in the whiting around the northeast.

Most of the fish we catch have worms, but because we dont do an autopsy after they have been filleted they are not noticed.

I will mention no names (they know who they are) but it looks like i am going to watch every single word i utter, cos it seems some people are a touch paranoid.

Terry here's me thinking you where calling us worms in the best possible taste of course, just goes to show how you can pick things up wrong, have to be careful in future.
