    the best thing to do imo is to cut a quarter inch slice off the male half of the rod, probably the top half. wrap a bit tape round it quarter of an inch from the end so that you get a straight cut and cut off a slice with a hacksaw and sand the burrs off
    Or you could just spray it and when the carbon wears off you spray it again

    I wouldn't cut my rod that's for sure

      if your going to cut rod make sure its the female end not the male end as it will make it even worse also candle wax will make your rod stick together in winter a aerosol spray can will be better i got mine done by a expert on here the joint spray is rubbish
