  • Strange goings on on Blyth Beach 26/11/06

Fished the Whitley Bay open with my girlfriend on 26/11/06 on Blyth Beach just north of the middle toilets.

North of where we were fishing there is a pipe. FROM THIS PIPE TO THE ONE NEAR WHERE WE WERE FISHING FOUR MEN WALKED ALONG AND TURNED OVER MOST OF THE ROCKS SHOWING ON THE BEACH. WE CHECKED WHAT THEY WERE TURNING OVER AND IT LOOKED LIKE OLD PIECES OF A LARGE PIPE. WHEN THEY GOT CLOSE I ASKED WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR AND THEY REPLIED "NOTHING"!!

IT DEFINATELY LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING HAD BEEN WASHED UP ON THE BEACH AS THE DEBRIS THEY WERE LOOKING AT WAS VERY LARGE, AND I CAN'T RECALL SEEING IT ON THE BEACH BEFORE.

WONDER WHAT IT WAS THAT HAD POTENTIALLY BEEN DUMPED? HAS ANYONE SEEN THESE SORTS OF GOINGS ON BEFORE?

    PICTURE IS ATTACHED.

    REGARDS

    STU

P.S. SORRY FOR THE CAPITALS, LAPTOP KEYPAD IS FCUKED.

They look to me like Coastguard Rescue Officers. They may have been looking for something reported by a member of the public. Can't say that they are for sure as I can't see what's on the back of their foul weather jackets, but we wear very similar gear when searching.
Just last month was called out to check on a suspicious object on Boulmer beach, which looked very much like an anti personell mine but turned out to something a hell of a lot less sinister.

Lol John.....Must have a canny Baccy habit for the size of the object. Might struggle to keep it in his pocket unless he's trying to impress the Ladeez!
Would beat a pair of rolled up socks any day Lol.
