  • Bait pumps

Hi, I have looked at some previous posts from around January time this year, regarding bait pumps and some of the lads going to try their hand with them, I never saw any posts following up their efforts, I would be curious as to hear of their opinions, as with a bit more time on my hands I am tempted to collect my own bait, but is it to be the back breaking digging, or the not so, but nearly,(I would imagine) bait pumping? your experiences would be very helpful in me making up my mind. cheers lads.

      Bait pumps

How do Tommy, I bought an Alvey bait pump many moons ago with the intenshun (how do you spell that) of doing the same as youself, but I gave it a few goes then give up. They do work and my experience with them was that they work much better in really wet sand, another thing I found was that quite a lot of the lugworms that I brought upto the surface where damaged. With a bit more practice who knows but I think the fork is the best bet.
Was going to use it as a giant spud gun but the price of spuds put me off that idea.

I went with a mate a few months back to have a go, and pumping isnt easy, all the worms i was pumping were damaged but my mate who has been doing it a long time had no problems getting them. he made it look easy, its all down to technique, it would take a few trips to get the hang of it.

Thanks for the information lads, I'm gonna bite the bullet and give the pump a go. I'll try and persevere, If all fails I can always sell the thing on Ebay...(along with all the other daft things I've bought.).... breadmaker, juicemaster..sodastream...Waffle dangler........(Ok I made up the waffle dangler)..but if they made one I would of been the nugget that bought the b*gg*r !!
