Huge thanks to Paul 'fishfinder' for looking after me and making me feel so welcome at this event -as did all i met! 'willywetegg', 'sixfootsteve', and 'pottsy' to name a few. Hope to see some of you out and about soon on various marks around the coast.

NESA is obviously a fantastic club and i'm glad i joined.

Thanks to all that i met last night. Thorougly enjoyed my night. Good to see a decent return for the lifeboats as well.
I was fishing about 300yds north of the middle toilets on Blyth beach on a large sandbank and it was almost waist deep behind me when i came off. Fortunately i have long legs! Hope to see you all at the next match ( south of the Tyne is uncharted territory for me).

Just a quick one to say, how much I enjoyed myself last night.
Thanks for organising a great event Jim and bullying me into fishing it.
The fishing was pants, but the craic more than made up for it!!!

A canny tidy little sum has been made in all and I'd like to say thanks to all those who fished my little get together the other week.

Was nice to put a few faces to names and I'm sorry that I didn't get to speak to more, but I rushed off after the weigh in to fish Lower Tyne Estuary and catch a couple of tiny whiteys!!!!!
            Should have just went home!!!!!!!
A lad close to me pulled in a 4lber and an 8lber aswell as a couple about 1.5lb.
Guess it wasn't my turn last night.

See you's all again at the North vs South and hopefully this time we will all be weighing in!!!!!
( Well the North anyway )

            Cheers

            Tony

Ps Ali/ray, Glad all is Ok

Another great winter comp and a first for me and our Davey, we both managed to weigh in this year with a codling each from Cullercoats for 1.8 and 1.6 on Terrys scales (1lb 13oz and 1lb 10oz in old money) which is great news as Terry had told us no more peeler if we went to the scales with chickens lol

Back in Cannock. Firstly a thank you to Jim, for his sterling work and Tompa for his contribution from NEA.Two other comments........

Firstly.... on the night I gave Rod a lift to the event. When we got to the top of the ramp at Tynemouth (Alan we were fishing on the South Crab Hill) Rod says "Where's my rod?" Me says "Don't know" - it's still in the back of his car in Heaton!!! So I have to go and get it. So.... I provide the transport, he's using the lug I dug that morning, I tell him where to fish (the other option was Sharpness, where the Tynemouth comp was won), I tell him where to cast and he wins 100 notes and then we DON'T go night clubbing on the sea front in Whitley lol. By the way, as others have talked about wading off marks, now that they've taken the pipe out that ran across the Hill (yes I know it's been 10 years or so but it takes me a while to catch up) you've only got an hour and a half of the flood to get off and even then you're up to your thighs. We then spent the last 45 mins of the comp in the Queens lol.

Secondly, and I'm sure TC won't mind me sharing this with everyone.... I received from STEVE, who got it off Bert, who was given it by Sless, who initially was delivering it on Tony's behalf.......(are you following?).... a photo that "we" commissioned in the first NESA auction. It's taken a while to get a result (distance can be a real pain at times) but this is the result. It shows Tynemouth Sands, in particular the spot where my mam scattered the Old Man's ashes and I got her to open it when we got in last night.

Her reply, to Tony in particular, but to NESA as a whole was:

"This is just a short note to say thank you for the lovely picture, which I shall treasure. The sea has always been Jim's memorial, but to have the place recorded where we put him to rest is special. Once again, many thanks"

                        David

Firstly David it was great to meet you last night - at last Thanks for sharing your last post with us. In the wee small hours of this morning, while at the hospital, Ray and I explained to his mam and his sister the nature of these forums and the key word which kept coming up was "sharing"....advice, information, friendship, good times and bad times, laughter, lug, bait elastic, mints . What a fantastic photo, it was worth the wait.
