  • Braid for Spinning

Think this has been discussed before so bare with me...
Does anyone use braid for Spinning ? if so what brand and breaking strain do you\'s use ?
Seen a few lads at The Mull last summer using it but never got a chance to ask them about it and i never noticed anyone local using it (north east).
    Cheers Alan...

I started using braid last summer for spinning.I use 18lb fireline, the reason for using such a high B.S is because the thinner stuff is very hard to hold a good knot.

Everyone has there own opinions about braid but i am not a fan of it from the shore, wont use anything else for boat fishing but never got my head around shore fishing braid.

If you are going to get some then the fireline is the best (my opinion) for shore fishing as its got a coating and holds knots well .

20lb braid is about the right diameter for lure fishing, its also got the strength to hold a big fish should you get lucky enough!

As for manufacturer, most have their own opinion, but Fireline is one of the best.

Alan,I use 20lb \"Whiplash\" braid for f/s beach casting and wouldn\'t go back to mono, same 20lb braid for spinning but beware of line twist, I think it was on this forum it was recomended you fit an anti-twist vane on the line before the spinner. Whiplash comes in 300 mtrs I put 150 mtr on a spool with mono backing for spinning and once a year change the braid end for end fishy1
