British Tope Record

Just thought I'd clear things up regarding the Tope record after reading the "Report" in tonight's paper. Just had a long telephone call with Nick Simmons from the Angling Trust and is on the British Record Fish Commitee and it is illegal to kill a Tope as its a protected specimen fish..as for recording your catch this must be witnessed by 2 inderpendant anglers and photographs taken of the fish and this is put before the panel, plus they have asked for my scales to be checked.
The record means nothing to me at the end of the day I know I caught it and that will do me

Would be good for the shore caught tope record now be added to the books mate and you deserve to be awarded this but I understand what to talking about because only you enjoyed that battle with that fantastic tope on that day and know one else can get that feeling you did,

It will live in your memory for life.
Im off over to I.O.M tomorrow again on my boat and will be docking up in Peel and do a little trip up to point of Arye to see if its mates knocking about.

Most serious anglers will have a lot of respect for you returning that fish so well done on the catch and a big well done for letitng it go and create a new generation!!
