I bet 50 percent of fish fingers are pollack and other white fish rather than cod. The lads said there are eating there catch. Not killing them for fun like you do in your comps

I once went to the supermarket with a friend called Colin... does that count?
Its true though... pretty much all frozen fish in batter or breadcrumbs is Pollock. Unless it states cod and haddock then "white fiish" is normally Pollock and it tastes absoloutly fine. People have this thing about Cod but to me its pretty tasteless.... years of cultural ingraining that you must have cod.... Pollock can be just as good and they are certainly more plentiful.
I personally put back virtually every fish I catch. Tend only to keep large whiting which are found in large numbers and my brother loves to eat! Whilst I put back my catch I also accept that anyone who chooses to keep a sized fish has that right to do it. So long as they don't waste it then I don't have a massive issue with it, although it does keep me happy to see em going back.... well done on the catches lads."In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

Embarrassing thread at times though, live and let live surely.
P.S I use 30lb Fireline for spinning/float fishing too, had Pollack to just over 9lbs and seen fish to 14lb caught using the same setup as me.Ant ´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><(((((º> ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><(((((º>

well done lads, sounds like an exciting session! there will always be people who disagree with what gets posted on here its just personal opinion. That's what comes of posting an honest catch report.
The good things to take from this are the positive comments and advice. Scotty I'm sure you don't want to lose any more big fish so the most important thing is learning from what you think went wrong, I know you and sam are pretty switched on about your fishing , and I'm sure you will get your heads together and work out the best way forward. Well done for thinking outside the box and actually getting out there and trying different stuff , the only way to improve your own skills is to get out there and make your own mistakes, If I was wearing a hat I'd take it off to the pair of you!!Tight lines lads.
Always look forward to your reports. It's better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt!
