My Missus and ten year old son like cod bites. I have some fillets left in freezer from the winter. Therefore it would be shear greed to take anymore just to sit there. When they are gone it'll be winter again and I'll keep some more. But it's not unusual in any club to give ya catch away to people that do eat them. By returning as many fish as I can I am at least counter balancing what I kill in thd winter. If them pollack were cod then I can see why keeping them. But pollack and wrasse throughout the country aren't really seem as a table fish. That's not to say people don't like to eat em, I don't like marmite or garlic sauce. And I can't chastise people who do kill em. I just think its a shame. If they aint there you cant catch em

You put a lot of time effort and money into fishing if a fish is legal size and you are going to eat it great you have a end product if you are trophy hunting or competition fishing for points catch and release is the way to go and a lot of people do like pollock I know from the amount of requests l used to get when I took the boat out at the MOG I only kept fish that would not survive as I personally prefer cod
