So it's not OK to keep them to eat, but it is OK to keep them, not to eat, but to win a competition! How does that work?

          • My Missus and ten year old son like cod bites. I have some fillets left in freezer from the winter. Therefore it would be shear greed to take anymore just to sit there. When they are gone it'll be winter again and I'll keep some more. But it's not unusual in any club to give ya catch away to people that do eat them. By returning as many fish as I can I am at least counter balancing what I kill in thd winter. If them pollack were cod then I can see why keeping them. But pollack and wrasse throughout the country aren't really seem as a table fish. That's not to say people don't like to eat em, I don't like marmite or garlic sauce. And I can't chastise people who do kill em. I just think its a shame.

eh but your happy to kill fish for a comp on a hope that someone eats them but lads cant take fish there actually going to eat?pollock is not a table fish? I bet 50 percent of fish fingers are pollack and other white fish rather than cod. The lads said there are eating there catch. Not killing them for fun like you do in your comps

                  • You put a lot of time effort and money into fishing if a fish is legal size and you are going to eat it great you have a end product if you are trophy hunting or competition fishing for points catch and release is the way to go and a lot of people do like pollock I know from the amount of requests l used to get when I took the boat out at the MOG I only kept fish that would not survive as I personally prefer cod

Biggest hypocrite I have heard, you should hang your head in shame for your first comment.

As for the pollock mainly not for eating what utter tosh, why do you think cod stocks were so crippled, ignorance from people like you who think you can only eat cod is why.

I agree, part of the reason i do not post as much these days, i love Nesa and have made some life friends on here over the years but recently there seems to be a lot of attitude on the site. I much prefer the old school lot........................................anyhow enough of that i'm off to Portugal in a few hours to do some fishing for ice cool beer, live bands and 35 thousand bikers

                            • What saddens me is that this old tosh has had 4,500 views, three times as many as the real Pollock report. Scotty will be killing himself laughing at all of us.
