Line was probally frayed and ready to snap mate if a fish managed to snap it. I know lads on the boats who pull in double figure fish no bother on 30lb line

I was giving a example of my experience of open forum criticism I am not trying to dominate anyones post just asking questions about a incident. Again not slagging you or anyone else of just saying that on a open forum you have to except questions criticism aswell as pats on the back. However i am nearly always first to try and help and say well done to lads broken ankle or not i will always say my views

First at everything not a no it all at all thats why in my previous post i asked for help same as the rest do but my argument in this post is i know a fish does not clean snap 30lb line line unless there was a fault in the line thats all i was saying

the fish are there for every one to see, maybe the doubters will give scotty an apology, there have been a lot of Pollock on Tynemouth pier this year we have had them 4 to 6lb in a lot of club matchs,at night time pics of near double fish have been posted and double fish lost,a lot of the local lads don't report there catchs, it would be quite easy for a double Pollock to snap 25 or 30lb line if the lad was walking his fish from the round end to the stairs to land it the fish diving about would easy fray or nick his line as they are fishing close to the round end wall. davy.

This whole argument/debate started as i said the weight of the fish would not snap his line never once doubted his fish not once even before the pics i was doubting the fact a fishes weight would snap the line it had to be frayed or nicked and with a good pollock on the slightest nick will snap his line. I even stated i didnt care what line or fishing gear he was using. Simply said it wouldnt of been the fishes weight that snapped the line then everyone gets arsey about bullying i never started name calling and its not bullying when your stating a fact.

After losing a good cod on the lift on south shields pier last winter using 30lb straight through I did a bit of research on the internet and the general figure that comes up is 1/3rd of breaking strain to lift clear of water, or in my case 10lb. Also lost a pollack using 15lb main and 12lb leader spinning which I saw and guessed at about 4 or 5 lbs. When spinning or float off piers I now use 30lb braid and 25lb clear mono leader every time.
