I just cant see what all the fuss is about catching Mackerel its not that they are hard to catch to me it is not fishing any one can throw a shinny piece of metal into a shoal and pull 1 out not a lot of skill in that and how many that are killed are just wasted far to meany i bet

It involves a rod, reel, hooks, line and sinker so yes it is fishing. Granted it is easy and tends to attract the wrong sort at times but this doesn't detract from the fact that is fishing. If approached the right way i.e. light gear, float or spinner and only keep what you need it's an enjoyable few hours out, well for me it is anyway. Fishings about catching fish whether they're mackerel or cod, it's whats you make of it. As we all know there's the blanks as well so why not enjoy some light tackle enjoyment during the summer. After all it's not just summer that attracts them idiots, look at that ridiculous video posted recently of them inbreads biting fishes heads off.

Trout fishermen have "Duffers Fortnight" when the brownies go mad for the mayfly and anyone can catch them. You don't see any chavs then.

Because trout fishermen buy a license and a day ticket, seen some ********s on freshwater but mostly where its free and they will not have a license.

You can argue about any pros and cons of any type of fishing. Jigging a string of cod hockies from a boat could be compared to using a string of mackerel feathers from a pier. If the cod are there, they will take the lures suicidal......same as mackerel. You don't however hear anyone complaining about this type of fishing.
My own thoughts on the subject : If you enjoy it...DO IT !

yeah, I know what you mean fella - they are still supposed to have an EA licence though, I have still seen some idiots at still waters though - smacking trout of rocks to kill them etc. Saw one bloke once land a trout and then throw it back out alive with the line still attached so his mate could feel what it was like to play a fish!
