Fished tonight (Friday) about one and a half hours before high water and a couple of hours after. Had originally intended fishing the Alcan but when I got there there were about 16 cars parked, I visualised having to walk so far down the beach I would end up on the Beacons so I sped off to Blyth.
Cracking weather, sea dropped back to slight (I always miss it) and absolutely nothing doing until, strangely enough after high tide, when it became bite after bite, ended up with three codling and three whiting, and first time ever I was reeling in two fish at a time (pennel), bit of a disappointment when it feels heavy but it turns out to be two fish about a pound and a half, still mustn't grumble. All six fish big enough to keep.
Can't quite remember who, but someone was asking "Are the Whiting showing on Blyth beach yet", the answer is YES and they are canny ones too.
Grand start to the season, hope it continues.
