I was down there and there were non that size caught. Biggest one I seen today was weighed and that was a respectable 2lb 2ozs

Looking at the picture it measures just around 20" on the tape - around 50cm. Would it go nearly 4 1/2lb? I very much doubt it - perhaps on a cheapo spring-balance set of scales (which can be hopelessly inaccurate). A very good mackerel nonetheless, but I seriously doubt the 4lb 7oz bit.

that doesnt look the same big mackerel that i saw that deff pushed towards 4lb ,,on a side note the pier was a disgrace i had a walk to the end tonight and saw ppl just catching them and leaving them flapping on the deck while visitors carefully tried to step over them and they looked disgusted with the blood n guts all over the shop ,what the hell ppl to the area must think of us i dread to think ,, i even said to the port of tyne guy your gonna need a bigger bag he said its ok ive got 3 , still dont think 3 woulda been enough ,,,wondering could they not put up a sign asking ppl not to leave the pier in such a state or warning them that pier will become non fishing if they continousely leave the pier in such a bloody mess ,,DISGUSTEDComment
