  • Daiwa saltist

I like the look of some daiwa saltist reels but are they just for boat fishing or is there a beach/shore model ?

The 20 and 30 are perfect for rough ground fishing!
Very smooth retrieve, really strong drag, cast great!

20 I would say is for upto 20lb line then 30 for 20+

A thought it would be similar , I've got the slosh that's what started me looking at the saltist

From my experience I think they are sooo much better than a slosh.. I've had a few slosh's and had various diff problems.. Not heard of many problems at all with the saltist other than the one phil mentioned.. Which was actually rectified so is only common on the very first ones

What do people like best the sliver or the black ones. Can you still get the sliver ones coz I've only seen the black one.

You can still get new silver ones if the shop has them dnt think they still produce them black ones are lighter and scratch proof. Were as a light wind takes the paint offf the silver ones

I would deff go for the black like.. The paint on the silver is so fickle

I have four of the 30 size silver models, great reels.
Star drags were faulty on the first batches however Diawa got it sorted, never had any problems with faulty star drags on my reels (touch wood)

                          Would u say these are better than a 525 mag 2 ?

Yes. The 20 is a similar capacity to the 525 but imo they are alot stronger! Some people will prefer to 525 for the magnetic brakes but if you set up the saltist well with good oil and right brake blocks you don't 'need' mags..

If you wanted the best of both then go for the older 525's much much stronger than the mag2's

i have both the saltist 20h and 525 mag 2 and both reels are good but if its your first multi i would in for a second hand 525 mag off here they always come up then if you dont like it you would not lose much money
