I've never tried it but I've seen a couple caught on a spinner up at eyemouth. Not sure that they are around our coast in sufficient numbers to try it. -
thanks codman all i needed to know . i will give it a try ... i chased this myth of bass, cod and even mackerel and found positive results i m sure i will get a good result with enough effort . cheers .Punch and pull then let rip

Never seen any squid caught on our coast but I have seen plenty of octopus taken on spinners during the summerComment

Definitely squid, cuttlefish much thicker in the body and shorter. I couldn't catch any kept getting Mackerel and Coalies.Comment
