  • decent spinning line?

as were closing to the mental months of summer, could someone recommend a decent line for me to fill my spinning rod up, I want something around 20lb and strong as im going to try for some fatty Pollock this year, Mono not braid, to scared to spin with braid near the bottom incase I lose even an inch of braid for the price haha thanks chaps

if you look around you can get braid at a reasonable price. i wouldnt spin without braid. use a short mono leader as a rubbing leader.

tbh though i dont even use a leader and very very rarely do i lose any gear.

with braid you can bounce your self out of snags etc as it has no strech.

I use 30lb braid, much more direct and as sea troot says you can generally bump out of snags easy enough.

I use 30lb braid to a 40lb rolling swivel to 4 or 5ft of mono when fishing for salmon in the tyne, the mono stops you snapping the braid if you get snagged and the swivel reduces the line twisting or kinking in the fast flowing water

I personally use 12lb Ultima line (can't remember make), with a 25lb leader.

I do always carry a spare spool with braid though, usually around 20lb, braid just offers more in the direct feel through the rod, and gives you great feel when connected with a fish (when I'm ever lucky enough lol)

Check out the spectra braid from China, sold on ebay. Many of the boat lads use it.
