We were just talkn about the exact same thing the other day, how the cold weather has pushed them back to how it used to be, let's hope the cod fishing back end of the year will be like it was 27 years ago

Must be pretty big boats to stop them getting between the gap at the top of scotland and norway

Im with you on this one, or open them after dark as theres some pretty good sport to be had on roker after dark

Cant stand makky bashers me. Fair play of they actually intend to use them or eat them but most of them just catch them and kill them for the fun of it

Even better I hope they dont turn up

Going back 25 years to when I was a young man it was always July before we expected the Mackerel fishing to take off properly. People have become spoiled by the mild winters / warm springs of the last few years and expect things to continue that way. Unfortunately nature is not like that, it is unpredictable.

Give it another month and a bit of decent, settled weather and if the summer species are still thin on the ground look for something / someone to blame. But it is only mid June, the weather has been variable so far and it is still early season to be expecting better.

                    Ooooh,now here's the rub!
If the mackerel are indeed late arriving, and just for sayings sake,
they appear mid July,is everyone aware ,the end of joker pier is
going to be closed the last week in July for essential repairs,
for a couple of months apparently?
All macky bladderers, should make their feelings known,in the
strongest possible terms,to their local MP.ASAP ,if they wish
                    to avert this tragedy
