prom next to crawleys--crab hill

is it any good fishing the prom that runs between crawleys and crab hill at high tide,i have a cast into the kelp in this gully at low water from the side of crawleys.if you whack a bait out would be fishing the same area,if it is worth a shot is it only winter of worth a chuck for a kelpy

stay at the north end and cast straight east aiming for North Crab Hill, used to be quite a good shot but with the fishing the way it is now, been a couple of nice pollock taken there over the last couple of years. That's my mate Bruce and his dog in the second photo

cheers,pic was today at 5 ish,ive had a few small codling lobing into the kelp off the side of crawleys about half tide down,went at tea time for some water and thought i might give the prom a go over weekend at high water,never seen anyone fishing from the prom so was unsure if it would be worth a shot

Just to the right of the stones in the first picture puts you into browns well,to the left of the stones at the end of prom just before steps casting up the side of crawleys,you can also fish in front of the out door pool on small tides at high water,you can fish oppisite the stairs that lead down from main road or to the left of the stairs at the mark called the chair,this used to be a good big fish shot. Sorry to jump on your post mate but I've always wonders wether you can fish at the back of the house either on one of the skeers or the cliff top ? Anyone shine a light

Wasn't there talk of a 40 pounder being taken from either the Chair or, more probably, the Pulpit and it being dragged into the bay because it was too heavy to lift? Must be going back early 60's ish?

you used to be able to fish from the cliff at marconi point into the warriers, but the guy who bought the old station and made it his home put a steel fence around for privacy,you can still fish it if you climb round or at the bottom of the cliff into the warriers of the skeer. Davy.

dont know about the 40lb fish but a hell of a lot of doublers both from the chair and the pulpit and crawleys itself over the years. Davy.

They're the high-up rocks towards the back of the gully David, just to the right of Crawleys itself. A good high water shot, but only on tides up to about 4.6m if it's flat - fished there myself last winter for the best fish of what was otherwise a poor season (an ounce under 7lb) but cut it pretty fine...my bait bucket nearly bobbed away a couple of times, and as you're cut off there's nowhere to go for a while if you're not getting bites. I had to sit it out for three & a half hours that night, no bites & bored as hell before the fish turned up. A couple of lads were fishing from the prom that night as well.

yes 50 or 60 yds will put you in to the middle of the well,yes thats the pulpit . go down at low water and you wiil see the well is a massive pond.
