Well since Calmac discontinued their car ferry in 2010 we haven't been fishing to Tighnabruaich, so I thought we would give it a go this Saturday. However Western Ferry car prices plus petrol against my free pass, as an ex employee of Calmac meaning only Lynn has to pay for the bus, got me searching bus timetables from Dunoon to Tighnabruaich.
First bus 0713, next bus 1420 !! What is that about? So you cannot really go for a day trip to Tighnabruaich!? I thought Visit Scotland was trying to encourage tourism in this country? I was so amazed I phoned them up but they confirmed these were indeed the bus times and were to suit "the indigenous population!" Oh well that's all right then! Surely a bus around 10am would suit everyone.
Anyway, just out of stubbornness I still want to go. Not convinced Lynn will be keen on an 0650 ferry from Gourock! If not it will be Blairmore again. Wonder if the fish for whom we shall not name will put in an appearance, because otherwise it could be a long 8 hours in Tighnabruaich, plus over an hour each way on the bus, plus two boat trips!
Rant over, sorry.
