  • Looking for a relatively easy location tonight

    Hey guys,
I've had a few quiet sessions this week during my time off with a couple of flounders from the Wansbeck. But I'm looking to go out with the bro-in-law tonight, perhaps somewhere different.

We fish fairly light and when possible like to fish dropshot style with th LRF/HRF gear.(1oz sinkers and size 6 hooks)

We fished the ratty when I was up here last and we had some great fun on the light gear with codling, coleys, flattys and rockling.

I was thinking of heading there again tonight, and I suspect it will be a little sheltered from the northerly wind.

Does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations on anywhere else in the area that might fish well tonight?

    Thanks in advance.

Depending on what time you are out the northerly wind is going to drop down to 4mph which is negligable so you could fish anywhere. As a change from the Ratty you could try the Walkway in South Shields which is a similar type of venue, or SS or Roker Piers.

Thanks. We've decided to try a place were assuming is called pottery bank over low tide, and then will move on to somewhere else, I wanted to try the walkway before, I assumed the tide would be a bit strong today?

Pottery Bank is best in winter on small tides and fishes better on the flood. The tide pull isn't as strong opposite International paints which is just around the corner from Pottery Bank so you may want to try there.

Tide is fine for the walkway today and if you are fishing close to the side LRF style you will be away from the main tidal flow anyway (it is stronger towards the middle of the river).
