  • Icy Cold Walkway 24/2/13

Managed to get out at 3pm and had a drive along the Leas to see if anyone had turned out for the meet. Didn't see anyone, not surprising in this weather!!

After reading catches of Eelpout and Rockling, I decided to have a shot down the Walkway in the hope of one or both to add to the species count.

I got there and it was like a ghost town.....

Ignoring the bleak outlook I decided to persevere anyways.

It wasn't long before the icy cold North Easterly wind kicked in and made it feel about -10degC!!

Fingers numb and hailstone going down my neck I just managed to tie a new drop-shot rig.

After a couple of casts I managed to hook up this little fella (Shore Rockling) on a brown Isome.

Had a few more chucks trying a couple of different lures, with no effect. Eventually the cold got the better of me and I packed in after an hour or so.

It really was better to be sitting in the house today!! At least I got one of my Target species!

Well done Si on getting out on such a rotten day. Did you get the rockling fishing close to the wall or by casting out?
