I love a bit of lure fishing, mainly for pike with the odd perch. I've had a few pike over the 20 pound mark on lures.
I caught this beauty yesterday on the savage gear real eel in 40cm from a river.
Cracking lure caught fish mate , never been picking for a while , still got all the gear :-)

I never noticed, someone picked up on it on another forum. The lure was out in the net so I was lucky it was just lightly hooked.
The take was amazing, 2 of us were on the edge of the river and the lure had been retrieved to the margins. She then appeared slowly and took it, the real eel works best on a slow retreive so there was no chase. We both witnessed the full encounter in crystal clear water.

That`s the beauty of catching them on lures isn`t it? Seeing the take....not something that happens often when bait fishing

I do a lot of boat lure fishing catching a lot of jacks, sometimes they will take it right at the boat. Adrenaline pumping, especially on light tackle.
