Headed down south on Tuesday, with a meeting in Birmingham 10:00 Tuesday and than one at Half 10 the following day in Sunbury (Surrey) i had the afternoon/evening to myself. I decided to fish somewhere local to my digs in Sunbury, so after so internet research and a conversation with the guy in the local tackle shop i was on my way to fish a stretch on the River Mole, a small tributary to the Thames. I headed down the the river armed with my lrf rod and my bushy hoping to target Perch and pike and anything else that might be interested. While fishing away i noticed lots of small fish taking flys off the surface (roach or dace maybe?). Knowing i had the fly gear in the car off i wend to fetch it hoping for a bonus species for the lure challenge. SCHOOL BOY ERROR, i seem to have left the tip section of my 3 piece fly rod back in Jarrow, 3oo miles away!! Doh !! SO headed back to the water to continue spinning. The fishing proved to be quite hard but i managed to pull of a couple of Perch and a little Jake Pike by keep mobile, and fishing plenty of swims. All in all not a bad days work for a salty like me lol. Both fish were taken on spinners, i had no interest in soft or hard plastics.
