The lakes at Killingworth might be worth a shot, may have to fish without trebles and barbless though? Also Herrington Country Park is meant to hold Perch, I've tried once with no luck, but I don't think I was in the right part of the lake. The water was far too shallow where I was. For any location you can get a rod licence online for 24hrs for £3

Yes, those lakes at Killy have always done good Perch. Pike fishing ends 1st April, so not sure what the score would be for using lures after that date? I fancy a look down there myself at some point...

Do you need a permit to fish those lakes, i don't mind paying but not getting a full license till April.

Herrington country park is free as long as you have a rod licence. For Killingworth you can buy day tickets from the leisure centre. Not sure how much they are though? Can't imagine the whole thing costing more than a Tenner (including 24hrs rod licence)

It's been a few years since I've been down, but Semma Water near Richmond always produced plenty of jacks for us. There's also some monsters in the free water on the Tees as well as some big perch. As the man says, just buy a day ticket until the new season starts.

I've mentioned Herrington country park for perch, there is plenty to a pound and that was 2 year back so they will be bigger.
it is shallow and is weedy but there is a deep hole at the corner from the island to the straight section.

                Does Killy lake hold pike?

Very few Jim, and nothing big. Going for the Perch is more worthwhile there nowadays...

Was on another thread mate, Thought that's where you had picked it up. I've had nice bream and perch from there, I'll see if I can dig some info out. You will catch perch if it's for the species hunt, perch are very kamikaze, the small ones take mepps spinners/

Here we go, I've mentioned it since but here is a thread I started which has a few pics. All summer fishing with my young son.

Scroll down to see the bream, this is the deep hole I mentioned.

I think that's probably where I've gotten it from TBH mate. Deffo found out about it from another thread, just can't remember where or who's!
