Wrasse caught at Dorset 17th July
Phil, do different types of wrasse count as different species ? or are they all just classed as the one species i.e. "WRASSE" The one I posted yesterday was a goldsinny wrasse as you stated however this is a different one a Ballan I suspect. If they are not counted as individual species then just delete the reply. I also caught another wrasse which I suspect might have been a Peacock wrasse but sadly I don't have the photo as yet - the skipper of the boat took the photo however he hasn't sent it to me just yet. It is a fish with most vibrant colours I have ever seen, should I get the photo I'll post it onto the site anyway as a matter of interest, fishing in Poole was like fishing in an aquarium!!
Cheers bud.

Niteglow grubs
Thanks for the wrasse species id link Phill. They were caught on a boat and not from the shore and so don't count in the species hunt. I was using glow worm/grubs which are supplied from Moonfleet. I was going for small pollack, small pouting and dabs when I caught this Corkwing. Sadly you cannot see the glow grub I was using in this photo, you can only see the attractor beads, so don't count it in the lure hunt, but at least I now know that all different types of wrasse are classed as different species; I didn't realise it before otherwise I would have paid more attention to the photo's and made sure the lure was visible. The earlier picture of the Pollack I caught shows the glowgrub. I put these into a 35mm camera film container with a small 2" torch which emits UV light beam which the grubs absorb and they are then luminous for several hours. A friend of mine who fishes the south coast has had a lot of success with them and so I thought I'd give them a try. I've attached a photo of the glow grubs that are supplied at Moonfleet Angling which cost £2.75 (Enterprise Tackle Niteglow Grubs) so that anyone else interested could give them a try.
