Hi Folks, long time no see!
After trials at making Soft Plastics last year, this year I thought I'd try my hand at Hard Plastic Lures. That's basically where I've been hiding the last 6 months....lol
I've decided to have a bash at the non-traditional way of manufacture and opted for 3D printing rather than moulding. 3D printing allows a higher level of customisation and speed which enables changes to the design fairly often without having to reproduce a mould cavity each time.
I've designed the lures using CAD then had them 3D printed, after a few design tweaks (to make the assembly easier) they are ready for painting. The whole process has been really enjoyable so far, although I'm really struggling with the painting as I don't have the patience!
I've attached a few photo's below in the printed, assembly and pre finished painted (primed) state.
I've also just finished my first one! Swims ok in the bath! Ready for Sea trials…..the missus & kids bought me a GoPro for xmas so hopefully get some videos up soon!
