starting to see em up here as well, scudding over the ford like torpedos in stanhope, a lesser man than me might of been tempted to rest awhile on the setpping stones, with his landing net inbetween the stones to lighten to the load ;-)ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.

been absolutely dead up here, very low water, so even the brownies have just been chillin\' in the sun, another month might see some decent sea trout making the trip. hope the water stays high enough for em to get where they wanna go and do what they wanna do
landing nets are considered too sporting in these parts, most of em use a garden fork and a 48\" carp net,
or failing that blasting exploseives they\'ve nicked from the quarry

have managed to winkle a few wee brownies out over the last month, nowt over 8\", but did have a mad session week before last, mmonster hach going on and they would take anything that hit the water. but all teeny little 4 to 6oz blighters, good fun though, used a 6\'6\" brook road with #3 line.
saw a couple of sea trout that had beached themselves and given up, probably down to the lack of oxygen in the waterʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.

Your not wrong, even last season, every pool had dead sea-trout and salmon! its a shame considering how far they make it up the river (and the size of them)
I seen a number of salmon and sea-trout to over double figures dead in the pools!
I\'ve had a couple of problems getting up this season however fingers crossed, everything should be sorted for the main run!
Keep the updates coming!
Cheers

just been for a wander down there. Not much happening, loads of small fish rising, and heaps of small parr scudding about in the shallows but no sign of anything decent
although.....
as you go through the gate at the stanhope end, stopped and had a look in the flooded greenhead quarry, some muckle big brownies cruising just under the surface, a good 15 to 18" in length, right next to the old pumping station, might have a go later on!ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.

Was working on the wear up by that quarry last week Mark, so I had a quick look over the wall on the corner. As you said they were their cruising, some deceny brownies between the pumping station and the corner of the road just under the surface.
A lad I was with chucked a small piece of white chewy about 6 foot from a big un and sure enough it shot over and had a bit chew itself, but it mus'nt have like wrigleys as it spat it back out.
Might be worth a try with some hubba bubba lol.
Once they were spooked tho they were well away and never came back while I was their.
Local legend has it that their's some decent rainbows in their.
