  • Hazon Burn good catch and bad news Thurs 20 April

    Fished Hazon burn near shillbottle

Drive in looked like the darkside of the moon

Arrived to find a tidy well kept fishery although specimen pond was very coloured.

Caught one to 5lb in specimen pond only fished it for half an hour as water was very murky.

fished lower lake caught 8 fish all about the 1lb 2lb mark.

The staff at the lake were very friendly and made me a nice cuppa. Talking to them they have plans to close in a couple of weeks time. It had not been well supported during the winter. They went 3 weeks in the winter with not one angler fishing.

If you have fished and enjoyed these lakes please support them by fishing soon as that might change there minds about closing.

It\'ll be a shame if they do close as the lads are really helpful there and it\'s a great place to go and pretty much guarantee catching a fish. Yes it\'s not particularly challenging if you want to stalk a single fish for hours on end but, if you just want a good afternoons fishing withthe chance to bag up then Hazon\'s the place to go. Fished there a few times last year, but as soon as the colder weather came on it was onto the sea fishing. fancied fishing the winter but heard tell the year before that if the water froze over the winter months then it\'d be closed for the duration, and with it being a pretty cold winter I just assumed it\'d be closed.
