Sharpley Springs/Waters Fishing Report
Six brave children fought the cold to come fishing at half-term
Thirteen-year-old Lauren Scott from Sunderland following in her fathers footsteps took three to 6lbs. Martin Ruddick had the biggest bag of the week with 35 in two visits, plenty of other big bags with G Malcolm, Wade Brown, and Trevour Wadds all netting over 14 a piece. Brian Corkhill returned an 11 pounder from a total of 9 trout. Steve Fish had some good sport with two fish at 7lbs 12 ozs and 6lb 10 ozs. Chris Johnston from Shilton played a 10lb 5oz rainbow trout on a size 20 buzzer for 20 mins to land it safely.
John Hartland and J Mullen both caught trout at ten pounds and G Grear netted one of 12 pounds on a buzzer, total bag of 14 trout.
Tactics: Given just a hint of mildness head for the downwind pegs where stock will accumulate in the comfort zone. In addition adult midge and spent shucks drift downwind so brave the breeze and cast into its teeth.
When becalmed, fish buzzers, bloodworms or blobs. Static is best and seldom deeper than five feet or so. If using ndicators small is the key; the fish have gently sucked in then rejected artificials at times so the angler must be ever vigilant and strike at anything. If the usual aren\'t working try those gaudy patterns that rarely get an airing!
Fly box;
black/red buzzers
red/pink devils
copper buzzers
blae and black
CDC adult midge
Cats
black fritz
Yellow blobs
