Sharpley Springs Fishing Report 13th Feb
The over wintered doubles are still emerging despite the changeable weather, which fluctuates from winter to spring all in a day! Plenty of midge hatching, so top of the water action has been excellent on warmer days. Fish are rising early evening to tantalise any angler.
    How’s it fishing:
The cold weather has driven the bigger specimens to deep waters, although plenty of trout in the 4 to 8lb being caught.
Joe Forster of Birtley returned 11 fish to over 40 lbs. with two at 8lbs and one at nine using a home tied black buzzer with lime green cheeks with ultra fine silver ribs. Martin Ruddick using a similar fly returned 18. Bob Lake from South Shields caught two doubles at 11 and 12 lbs. using a bloodworm. J Stephenson and T Phillips both netted ten pounders. V Tobin returned the biggest bag of sixteen.
Fly Box:Hares ear, Damsels, Black/olive/red/copper buzzers
Blood worm, Yellow sally nymph, Dawsons olive, Cats whisker
    Bunny leech and pink lures

Sless, you wer\'nt there. You didnt miss much well not as many as i missed!
It was very trying today, missed a load of fish and only connected with four but all in all a good couple of hours out and a pretty nice day weather wise for the time of year.

I got one out on Sunday, hard work though. 5 lber foul hooked in the dorsal fin, it was a canny job getting it to the net. I think you might have been just along from me Terry on the big lake. More action on Albert and Alice for me. Tried allsorts but white cats whiskers were getting the most attention.

You should have thrown something at me to get my attention.

Wasn\'t sure it was you Terry, were you craicing on to the lad in the tracky bottoms and adidas type top, far side of the big pond? I had some big old double figure fish mooching about under my nose most of the time. The lad next to me said it wouldn\'t take a fly. He was right!
