  • Sharpley Looking back at 2005

Looking back on 2005 Sharpley has seen a record number of doubles brought to the net, over 360 recorded.
The biggest fish for the year was over 20 lbs caught by Gilesgate\'s Robert Hopper with a superb rainbow of 20Ibs 2oz which fell for his Cat\'s whisker. Steve Appleton from South Shields with a 19 LB specimen caught on a Viva and Seghill\'s John Hawthorne at a whopping 19 lbs.
With twice a week stocking through out the year Sharpley gives all anglers the optimum chance of catching fish from 2lbs to over 20 lbs.
The aim in 2006 is to continue to attract new anglers to the sport by providing more expert tuition and introduction days at Sharpley.

How its Fishing this week: Jan 3rd 2006
Plenty of anglers enjoyed the Xmas to New Years ice free fishing with the rod average at 4 this week. Richard Landsbury returned 21 fish and Trevour Wadds from Alwick caught a 10lb 15 oz on a bloodworm and M Ruddick a fine fined 13lb 8oz rainbow with T Scoble also returning safely a 12 pounder on a damsel fly. Martin Ruddick netted 16 after his catch on Xmas day totalling 32 for the week J Forster also returned 16 using a pinky.
    Tag fish total is £700
