  • -4 pike

me and my 2 mates fished for pike at loch arther ,only got 4 pike out and frost bite 1, 3lb and 3 ,2lb anybody fished here ,is there any biguns in........

there are some decent pike in loch arthur they go to just over 20lb but a mid double is a good fish for there. unfortunately there is only 2 decent swims where you can comfortably fish due to the bankside vegitation. theres another two swims i know there but they are very difficult to fish due to the trees.
its an ok venue if you want comfortable fishing out of the boot of the car, but much better lochs to fish in that area. get the ordinance survey out and try one of the dozens of waters you will have never heard of, the rewards could be great !
i\'m off over that area tonight to fish 2 or 3 days havent quite decided which loch yet, may fish a different one each day.

Micky whats the craic about having permits for this type of fishing - been over the south west of Scotland loads of times and always obtained a permit - if you find a \"likely \" looking spot can you just pull the car in and fish it

          Cheers Brian

i ask because i have a couple of weeks left to take and might get over soon

it all depends where you are fishing, some waters require you to obtain permits before fishing, other waters they come and collect money while you are fishing and on others fishing is totally free. if you want any info on the permits needed for waters in sw scotland pm me.
if i want to fish a water and can\'t find out any info on if you need a permit etc in that area i just go and fish it, the most they can do is ask you to leave. there a lovely water i\'ve earmarked for a couple of sessions, try as i might can\'t find out anything about permits, its a quite remote water so just going to fish it and see what happens.

Can someone suggest somewhere a bit closer to Newcastle to try a bit of pike fishing. Never done any before but wouldn\'t mind having a go. Got a free week in feb when I could go further afield but wouldn\'t mind having a crack earlier.

Are you allowed to fish anything other than fly at Sweethope? I\'d forgotten a mate of mine said he saw a pike caught at Sweethope. Bolam\'s not too far neithers QE2. Cheers.
