had a plodge on (in) the wear yesterday, stanhope to eastgatre strech, masses of little uns rising to anything that hit the water. anything small and black was doing the trick, pulled in over a dozen little brownies around 6 oz! Switched to gold head hares ears, and pheasant tail nymphs and managed a couple of bigger uns, had 2 reasonable fish, best just on a pound, but fought like a demon.
high spot of the day, stood up to me wedding tackle in the middle of the river, spotted something blue coming at me bullet like, as it got closer turned out to be 2 kingfishers flying e=inches away from each other, as they were about ten feet infront of me they parted one flew either side then they joined together behind me and carried on upstream
there\'s one pool about halfway between stanhope/eastgate that had some muckle fish lying at the bottom (sea trout maybe) but they were having none of it, tried putting allsorts in front of them over them past them under them but not interested
didn\'t see a single person all day - bargain for a fiver!
