WEST HOUSE FISHING REPORT 3rd JULY 2012
The lakes are fishing really well at the moment. During the summer Stillwater normally become stale but this unsettled weather and rain has kept all of the lakes fresh and active. Most of the action is on the surface or in the top 12 inches so Dries, Buzzers and Nymphs are the best pattern. Keep you lures in you boxes until the winter.
A Mr Pilmer caught a stunning Common carp this week estimated to be around 17lb. The carp took his red bloodworm fished on 6lb leader. Jonathon Maidwell of Durham landed 16 fish all caught on a selection of dry flies, his best a nice Brown of 3lb. David Sommerfield of Newcastle caught a rainbow of 12lb using a Black buzzer fished in the margins. Peter Cork of Guisbrough had an excellent day landing 15 fish including a Rainbow of 9lb on his first visit to the lakes
The lakes are now open from 8am until 9pm every day
