  • Herrington Country Park

    Hi Guys

Just to inform you that Get Hooked on Fishing have managed to acquire funds to start the development stages of an angling club at Herrington Country Park. Prior to that I will be holding a couple of consultation meetings in mid November to discuss what can be done in and around the lake and how this could be achieved. Also there will be a 5-day course to learn about environmental issues, entomology, the local wildlife and the lake itself. This is something to get involved in even if you dont want to join the club but just like helping wildlife and our environment. Anyone wishing to get involved in such an exciting project or find out more detail can contact Darren McGlen on 07940251059.

    Many thanks

The evil swan seemd ok this year mate. It threatened a couple of people but kept away in the shallows most of the summer. Anyone fancying getting involved just let me know.

Dad says "pond is too shallow, gin clear and ruined by weed". IIRC it's also a Coromorant hotel? Good luck Mogg!

Jimbobb - one of the tasks is to combat the weed which we have already started doing with the park rangers. We've literally dredged out tonnes of weed already making some nice channels but we have lots still to do which we will be doing again come spring. The water is very clear as it is full of swan mussel which filter it but it shows good water quality. There's loads of fish in there and the water's deep enough as when we were dredging there were parts where we couldn't wade to so it's deep enough for fish although it would have been great to be a lot deeper in parts. There's some great bream, perch, roach, rudd and tench in there and a few big carp. It's definitely worth a try sometime as it will always be a free lake to fish. Cheers Guy and Jim I will do my best mate.
