      I think bill dial has got his wires crossed.You definitely need a licence to fish for salmon and sea trout.Mate of mine was teaching his 8yr old to fish unfortunately baliff saw him cast for his kid.Ended up in court with a canny fine.YOU NEVER KNOW WHOS WATCHING

        Yes def need a rod license you can buy online on Environment Agency website or at the Post Office. £8 for a day, £23 for 8 days or £72 for the year. Other prices for concessions etc.
