  • Fontburn Osprey

Took my son up for a day's fishing up at Fontburn yesterday and although our session was unproductive, we were treated to the spectacular sight of an Osprey diving for fish over the reservoir. The warden told us that it had been making regular appearances over the last week or two, and he believed it might be one of last years offspring from Kielder. It certainly had a better catch rate than we did anyway...

Shame about blanking but seeing the spectacular sight of an Osprey diving for fish is worth the drive to see.

Two of us fished Sweethope last month, and we saw the osprey circling over the eastern end of the Great Lough. I guess it could be the same bird. No difference, they are a great sight, along with the deer.

Fontburn is near Rothbury, I just thought the osprey may have "visited" both. Sorry for confusing the issue.

what I meant was which one do you go and sit beside for hours with your camera, while the Osprey is at the other one.

Sounds like an excuse to try both, as you will not know which one ....

Two days fishing is better than one ...
