Fished Grassholme today. Had a cracking day. Three of us fished and all had our limit of eight. Heaviest bag 16.5 lb. All fish caught on ledgered worm tipped with lime green powerbait egg. All fish caught next to the bridge next to the nature reserve.
A good half of the fish were full of roe when cleaned.
As a matter of interest we were informed of the following by an over zealous young Northumbrian Water Officer of the following.
We were fishing away and two of us had caught our limits. The third lad had only caught three fish so we thought we would fish on and give him any fish we caught up to his limit of eight fish. How wrong we were, once you have caught your limit you must stop fishing immediately [ unless you are fly fishing then it is catch and release ]. You are only allowed to catch fish for yourself and not allowed to give any away.
Us still fishing led to the baliff sending for backup and searching our tackle boxes, nearby hedgerows, the toilets , bins and eventually the car for any fish above our limits. The second baliff was a canny older guy but I feel that if it had been another knob like the young one from the shop then they may have tried to take it further with us still fishin.
Never mind you live and learn every day - just hope no one else gets caught like this.
