  • Carp Fishing

I haven't fished for carp for about 5 years, when I returned up here, and even then it was in Kent.
I now live in Whitley Bay and would like to know any good locations for carp/tench in the area, with approx cost to fish there and approx size of fish.
Any help will be gratefully received

You have marden quarry which contains tench not sure how big and carp to 29lb. But you have to be a member of B.W.A.C to fish it as the day tickets have been suspended due to an incident with a swan. to join B.W.A.C which i think is about £40 but this would allow you to fish killy lake aswell.
A bit further away you have killingworth lake which again has tench in, not sure what size but I know the carp go to about 30 + and you can buy day tickets from the leisure centre. think it is about £5 for a day ticket.
Near killy lake you have a small pond in burradon which has carp and tench in but not sure what size they go to, hear rumors of a 16lber in there and it has the bonus of being a free to fish pond.

These are just lakes i know of in the local area but there are numerous lakes around the north east with decent carp and tench in, it just depends how far you are willing to travel

might be down there tomorrow with the dog, will see if the warden is there ands will ask. Lucky it is just bread the people through over you, many of the anglers throw spods out indiscriminately, nearly clobbered the signets the last time I was there. Oh then there are the anglers who cast over the top of ducks and say O dear me caught another one. If you had seen the state of the swan, the angler caught it with barbed hooks, which are banned there. Caught it in the tongue and the line was wrapped round its wing so everytime it moved it pulled it's tongue further out, at the end the tongue and sinews where right out. Thankfully the swan was caught the hook removed, taken to Berwick where it now resides. Yep give me bread everytime, it dosn't hurt and you can eat it.

You will always get a minority of people fishing like you said about the spods nearly hitting the signets and thinking there above the rules with barbed hooks and can't defend there actions but in most cases its the minority of anglers who fish there. in the case of the swan and for the safety of other wildlife on the lake (not sure how it was caught but suspect floating baits )floating baits like bread should be banned from the quarry, as you're just asking for trouble with all the swans wildlife
However i would like to defend my point against the bread being thrown in even though I'm not against people throwing the bread in Alan its just the fact that some people throw bags of bread in nearly on top of where you're fishing, dont mind them throwing it in for the swans, geese and ducks but as they have the whole quarry to choose to throw bread in and throw it in where i am fishing its a bit of a pain and seems a bit ignorant , seen as i usually fish out of the way of everyone.
However I dont tend to fish the quarry anymore as i prefer secluded venues and prefer targeting the silvers

Could the possible answer be fish waters that are not open to the general public?
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught

Adam the swan was hooked on immitation sweetcorn, what i suspect happened was that when someone was fishing the swan came along and picked his bait up and went off with it, the angler panicing either snapped or cut his line, there was about 20yards of line. I had been photographing the swans only ten minutes beforehand so it wasn't bait that had been left. Believe now all artificial baits that will not disolve are now banned. Yes again the actions of the few affect the many, same in any angling discipline. And yes there is a certain amount of "ddddhhhhh" from the duck feeders who do start throwing feed in next to anglers, just as some let their dogs chase the wildlife.
Warden wasn't there this morning, try and catch her tomorrow to see if day tickets will be reinstated.
