FISHING REPORT 22/03/11
Plenty of fish are now being caught on dry flies and buzzers with the warmer weather. Chris Micallef won the Troutmasters fish off this week by changing tactics and targeting rising fish with a CDC and Black buzzer fished New Zealand style to land 8 fish his nearest rival being Dean Appleby with 6 fish. ( the rod average for this competition was 3.9 fish per angler). Three doubles landed at West House this week.
Season ticket holder Kevin Henderson of Seaton landed a 16lb Rainbow caught on a blob in addition to a 7lb and an 8lb fish. Jonathon Healey of Durham landed a 13lb rainbow caught on a Black Worm and this was one of 11 fish Jonathon caught on a glorious spring afternoon. David Leggatt of Thirsk landed a nice rainbow of 11lb caught in the margins on a Pink Buzzer. Susan Wearmouth had a good day catching 9 fish her best a Brown trout of 6lb, most of her fish were caught on a selection of Mini lures
The fishery is now open from 8am – 7 pm 7 days a week
The best flies this week were Cats Whiskers, CDC shipmans, Black Spiders, Dawsons Olives, Zonkers, Pink Buzzers, Hares Ears and mini lures.
