FISHING REPORT 16/02/11
Some very mixed weather this past week has made the fishing very interesting. On those cold windy days the best tactics have been lures such as Cats Whiskers fished deep and slow, but plenty of fish have been moving on the surface during the sunnier warm days. It has payed to chop and change tactics, varying the depths to keep finding the fish.
Jonathon Reid from Newcastle caught a nice rainbow of 13lb on a Cats Whisker fished slowly on an intermediate line. He also landed another 5 Rainbows using the same method. The owner David Leak caught an overwintered Rainbow of 9lb and also a fin perfect Brown trout of 6lb using a Black Snatcher. John Graham of Bishop Auckland caught a rainbow of 11lb on a Black Zonker. Peter Johnson and his partner landed 19 fish on a glorious sunny afternoon all the fish caught on Buzzers and small patterns high in the water
The fishery is now open from 8am – 5.30pm 7 days a week
The best flies this week were Cats Whiskers, Dawsons Olives, Zonkers, Pink Buzzers, Hares Ears and mini lures.
