West House Trout Lakes | Welcome to West House Trout Lake
FISHING REPORT 07/9/10
The water is still very warm and the trout are sluggish during the day so small patterns fished slowly seem to be the secret. Fish are feeding more freely morning and evening either on or just below the surface. The best tactics are CDC patterns, buzzers , Hares’ear, or Nymphs
West House regular Lee Gibson of Chilton had an excellent day landing 24 trout in total on a variety of small patterns. Nigel Hart of Durham caught a super Rainbow of 16lb on a Hares Ear fished static, this was the best of the 8 fish he caught. Susan Graham of Northallerton had a good day landing 9 fish her best being a Brown Trout of 7lb all her fish caught on dries in the early evening. Resident instructor Tom Carroll stalked and landed a nice Mirror Carp of 16lb using a Bloodworm
The best flies this week were Diawl Bach’s, Damsels, Crunchers,CDC’s, Black Hoppers, Hares Ears and mini lures.
The lakes are now open until 8.00 pm on an evening and and evening ticket (4pm onwards) is available for £10.
